Default Yanmar anti-freeze

I am repairing the radiator fan & replacing the hoses on my yanmar/kholer 12.5 generator. I am getting the radiator serviced as well since I have everything apart.

My question regards anti-freeze. The manual says to use standard ethylene glycol anti-freeze with no mention of diesel additives nor testing. I am thinking of replacing it with the long-life OAT type anti-freeze that I will switch the 8V92 to at next service.

Does anyone know of a reason that I should not do this? I plan to purge the cooling system with distilled water because I have read that in the yanmar, mixing coolant types can cause foaming of the coolant, but I have seen no other caution regarding lifetime coolants in the yanmar.

Thanks for any info or experience shared!

Straight from the Cummins Coolant Engineer (Yes they have one and spoke with him directly)
"Just use OAT" It mixes with everything. You dont need any additives. You dont need any test strips, you dont need a filter with additives and it will outlast your coach.

Peak Final Charge is an OAT coolant and is available at Walmart. (There are many others)

The "diesel additives" are for engines with wet liners and not required for small "throw away" diesels so any coolant CAN be used, but OAT can also be used. I used it in everything that required coolant. That way, I only had to carry one spare bottle and did not have worry about what goes where. Yep, in the Aqua Hot too ....

In our rig I use Prestone green antifreeze in the genny and aquahot.
And like Randy said a coolant rated for sleeved engines in the Cummins.
Just yesterday noticed some green droplets down below close by the tag axle. The color narrowed down my search to some spilled coolant when I serviced the aquahot.
Now if that would have been red I'd probably still be looking for that leak. Hope this gives you something to think about.
