Default Open a bottle of wine with a shoe

I can open a bottle of beer with just about anything, including another bottle of beer but I would have never thought about opening a bottle of wine with a shoe.

Dan after we drink a bottle one day, I will show you how to remove a cork from inside a bottle with nothing more than a napkin That is as long as you can get the cork in the bottle

I've seen that done Al. I also know how to get the cork in the bottle. I was tent camping many years ago and this couple stopped by our campsite carrying a bottle of wine and asked if I had a corkscrew. I didn't but I told them I could open the wine. I took a screwdriver and with one hit, pushed the cork inside the bottle. They just looked dumbfounded and then said 'why didn't we think of that'. But next time I will try the shoe trick, especially if it's not my bottle of wine.

Put a dime on top of the cork before using the screw driver. This is a variant of skiers wine opener. A dime and a ski pole. Skiers wine a lot. Skiing is going down hill.

The final device on that page had to have been dreamed up at a homebrew club meeting!

Great stuff! What little i know about wine is pushing the cork into the bottle is just about one of the worst things you could do to any bottle of wine. The French ( yea yea I know all about the French ), call it "Bouchoned" or corked, the wine will taste like the cork. I mean it's like using a machete to cut off the end of a cigar! It's like calling a Fabbri a bird gun, or like some pilgrim calling my Coach an RV!!! If you don't have the wherewithal to bring a cork screw with you then buy screw tops or boxed wine there great and you can't Bouchon the wine!!!
