Default Transmission pan

Recently as a lot of you know I had reason to be under my coach due to trouble with my hydraulic control solenoid and while down there I noticed a lot of corrosion on the Allison's oil pan. Well I got my magnet out and started checking and sure enough there were several spots where the magnet barely held. Finding a new one proved difficult but the Allison dealer said no problem and for almost $500. I have a new one coming. Just thought that that was something you might want to check on your coaches.

Call Colaw and buy the whole transmission with shipping for a few hundred more. Then you have all the other spare parts should you need any.

Heck they want $89. for a oil pan gasket on the 8V92. I'm seriously thinking of using RTV.

Don't forget the internal filter in the allison to change while the pan is off. Maybe a good time to change to Transynd fluid too.

Just a suggestion.

The internal filter, gasket and o-ring are in a box at my feet as I type. The Transynd fluid is at the Allison parts counter waiting to be picked up when the pan gets in.

As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure I did, but I have a trip down to Hamburg PA. coming up and that should prove it out. It was a two fold problem. One was the the line from the Racor to the fire wall. Proved that out for sure by pressure testing the line once it was removed. Then I still had a problem with air getting in the line. So I changed out all the gaskets on the Racor and that seemed to do the trick. Will update on my return.
