Default Engine won't Start

Hi Folks,
it has been a while since I have been on here, and am posting for a friend who has a 1987PT.
He took it into a garage this morning to have some work done, oil changes etc., well they drove it into the garage, changed the oil and then started the coach again a couple of times. After changing the transmission fluid, they wanted to start it up again and no go.
I have been talking to him and trying to remember all the things to check. Can you help me please so he can get his coach running again.

Thanks
Bill Schreurs

Default Engine won't Start

Thanks Bill. He is not computer literate and has been calling me.
I am a long distance away from him as well, he is in Quebec and I am in BC.

Things I have suggested to him:
Batteries - he had just equalized them and says they are up to par.
Connections and battery grounds - I will suggest this to him.

To add to the story, he took it to the garage, and a mechanic had to drive it in. After doing some of the work they started and stopped the engine. Is there anything they could have switched off that would cause the engine from starting again.
- I asked about the A/T switch.
- I asked about the battery switch under the dash.
- On the 88 there was a smaller relay to operate the starter solenoid relay as well. I asked them to check that too.

Did they try starting from the rear? Depressing aux. batt. switch while trying from front and/or rear?

Default Engine won't Start

Curt - I have passed on your info, tried starting from rear but I forgot that it has the switch front/rear, and of course the transmission in Neutral.

Thomas - they did try starting from rear, but depressing the batt switch, I will mention that to him as well. He said that he had just equalized all of the batteries.

Al - He lives in his coach full time, he drove it to the garage to get the oils changed and a tie rod replaced. They had started and stopped the engine a few times and then it would not start again. He is thinking they hit something, like the transmission not being in Neutral or A/T switch.

I am passing on all of this information.
Tonight he has to go to a motel.

Hi Bill, If it sat long enough for the oil to get cold it might need to have the block heater running for a while...anything below 10 degrees and it wouldn't start...

Just to clear things up, the title of the thread says “Engine won’t start” but is the problem really that it won’t “start” or is the problem actually that the starter isn’t cranking the engine?
