Default Ignition Switch Replacement

Not sure this has been covered before, I searched and did not find anything, so here goes.

May have found what appears to be an almost exact replacement for ignition switch for 70s and 80s coaches.

A couple weeks ago I was trouble shooting my starting circuit, in the process, I decided to replace ignition switch. Could not find exact replacement at the time but there was a generic so I tried that. Did not like the fit so I cleaned up the old one and it's fine for now.

This one is made by Made by Standard Motor Products PN US-69.

This unit has the same spade contact configuration, strange shaped casting, and spring loaded chrome bezel with the word Starter on it. The only difference I can see is that the contacts are not brass.

Prices range from about $18 - $35 depending where you shop on the net. Also saw one with the Delco name on it somewhere in my research.

Take a look and please tell me if this is the unit, or am I missing something. I'm posting a photo of my original for comparison.

The following link will bring you to the site. Then select part # tab and put in US-69

Talking Ignition Part's #replacement

The following are for a 1985 PT36

Parts found so far to solve previous post (engine won't start)

Front ignition switch NAPA KS6599 $22.44

Rear ignition switch NAPA KS6146 $23.13
HOWEVER, you need to grind out the flat side of the hole for it to fit.

Rear ignition/front selector switch NAPA TG6144 $17.11

Oil Pressure Sending Unit (0-120PSI) gauge NAPA OP6745 $26.12

LOVE OLD SCHOOL

For those shopping by part#s if you get - Rear ignition/front selector switch NAPA TG6144
you might also want to get NAPA TG6571, it is a rubber water/dust cover for the toggle

Which switch for a 87fc it looks like a
NAPA Ignition Starter Switch
Part Number: #ECH KS6599
or the
S-1603 - Ignition switch - Bluebird. Replaces BB #0770339
the Pollack 31-139 looks different ?

Default Ignition Switch "Repair"

Picked up the Carquest to replace the Pollak 31-158-100. Carquest is a Piece of Junk. Seems very cheap. I was having trouble getting my key to go in the ignition. Took it out and brought home. Well looked on Youtube and found a fellow that took a rubber hammer and tapped his key and it went in and started working flawlessly. Well did the same to the Ole Pollak and behold working now. Will clean and lube with Key lube and put it back in. Appears for a SP It is just a momentary switch for the starter only 3 wires. The acessory is always on. The 3rd wire I believe is a ground. May try to get spare from the School Bus Parts website.

Hi Mike,

I think the three wires on your switch are “Battery”, “Ignition” and “Start”.
