Default 04 M380 - Gray tank to valve caulk seal

I noticed a drip from my gray tank where the Dupree valve was caulked into it. I tightened the clamp and haphazardly added some waterproof tape to the outside of the joint as a band-aid but this is not holding. What did BB use to caulk the valve into the tank opening and is there a better solution? At least it's not the other side which happily has a hose connection.

I used 3M Strip Caulk on the Dupree valve housings when I removed/repaired the tanks. I believe that originally the factory used “Dum-Dum”, which has been discontinued. If the plastic is good on the tanks, the clamp and the strip caulk should do the trick.
