Congratulations on getting this resolved. I know that you are short on your meds at this point, but sticking to it and solving it was the priority for you. Hope that this will help someone in the future. Again, this shows how the power of the WOG helps us all.

Hey Bryan,
Looks like both you and I had more fun than any human being is ever allowed to have.
Just think - if we didn't own a Bluebird we would have missed this valuable life changing experience

Glad you stayed with it and got it going. You will now be better prepared to deal with any problems in the future.
Mallie,
Believe me - after the new ATEC computer didn't help, I was seriously considering having it towed to the doctor (Allison shop). Some strange 6th sense told me it would be expen$$$ive. I was waiting for a answer to my request for your credit card number.
Didn't you get it?

My 2 relays and ECU (transmission) diodes are located in the main lower front electrical compartment above breaker #64 in the attached photo. I will guess that since your ECU diodes are located in the rear, that your relays should be very close or possibly one is located closer to the transmission or shifter panel as it is related to the transmission oil pressure switch which is on the tranny. The Allison transmission is very dependent on having a clean DC power source of at least 10-16 Vdc at all times. It also wants a good ground, particularly related to the EMI shield ground wire coming off of the ECU box which must only be connected to a clean frame contact point and never to a battery negative terminal.

I have uploaded the manual to John Finn as it was 55.5 meg and is 332 or so pages long.

I would guess that cleaning all of the connections as well as the grounds in the rear switch box has fixed your issue as this box can get very dirty inside as it is not well sealed which is why many of the rear switches fail.

Additional wire identification file below also which may help
Only my best guess, so hope it helps.
I think this is the same troubleshooting guide I posted above. (322 pages)

The picture you posted agrees with the Master wiring diagram I have (for the DDEC II)
It is not at all like the DDEC I . If my research is correct, the DDEC I's were made by Motorola and DDEC II's were Detroit Diesel. Nowhere can I find a master wiring diagram for a DDEC I.
Yesterday out of the blue I got a call from a retired computer engineer that had owned (built?) a bus conversion (sold about 5 years ago) with much of the same problems. He had to build a communications link to get it to shift properly. He believes he still may have drawings for the DDEC I with Allison ATEC. Also sketches for the communications link he built. He will search and email what he can find. This could be a good thing.

Thanks for all your help. I appear to be running just fine now but will have full diagnostics run at the doctor's

Heres a jpg of the DDEC-ATEC adapter. Not much to it ;}

I also have a DDEC1 troubleshooting manual ;}

Sorry to be late to this thread, been in MX with the BOF's

Looking at the drawing, if its accurate, probably could help shifting to replace the capacitor. Those things age ;}

KC,
Here is my information related to a DDECII for the Allison ECU, Diodes, Interface Module, and Relays.

It may help someone else should they need this info.

Thanx Barry - I have it saved
Couldn't find anything like this cigar module anywhere. If it exists on a DDEC 1 it may be hiding on the engine.

KC,
Since the Allison needs RPM's and Throttle Position, and both of these are best accessed near the front control/dash area, is there a chance you could trace wires from the throttle treadle or tach gauge to a box which has 3 input wires and 1 output.

Just a guess as I am not familiar with your front power/distribution panels.
