Default Walmart is building 'town centers' in its parking lots

Wonder what this might mean to overnighters?

These new hubs would feature a "carefully curated mix" of "local, regional, and national" retail tenants, according to a website for the project, not to mention green spaces and, in certain cases, parking systems overhauled to better facilitate the store's grab-and-go services.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported that Walmart is looking to fill these town centers with restaurants, day care establishments, health clinics, bowling alleys, food trucks, bike rental stations, driving ranges, fuel stations, and more.

Obviously truck stops and their special ambiance will be more in demand. Personally I find truck weigh station lots are a viable alternative many times.

Indeed! And much quieter generally. Trucks usually avoid the scale.

Never thought of a quick overnighted at a truck weigh station lot! Is there a list of these in AllStay app or another web link?

Not that I know of. I don't believe they are considered for that purpose. But I have and will stop at one if on the Interstate, before going to a rest park or a truck stop. If there are any trucks there there usually aren't very many. Like I said, the driver's generally stay away from them. Just make sure you go all the way to the back and out of the way and I doubt anyone will say anything. Also use the same common sense as you would in Wal-Mart lots. No jacks, slides, lawn chairs or grills out. Just park and go to sleep. They would rather you stop and sleep than to fall asleep at the wheel and cause them a whole lot more work.

My experience for what it's worth, on the way home from WOG Pine Mountain rally I stopped at a Walmart that stated truck and RV parking. When I pulled in there was a number of them there, most with slides out looking like they were making it "long term". Perception is reality and this is why so many don't like the idea IMO.
