Default Samsung fridge install

I put a new Samsung hose style fridge in Vinces new to him 99LXI,taking the Norcold out.
I love the house style fridge in a coach and i did this exchange simply because i was nevous about having a 15yo fridge in a coach i was going to sell.
I also did the exhaust system and a new rad at the same time.

But,the real story here is i bought a new Samsung for my personal coach as well.
My 2000lxi came with a sears side x side house fridge, which while working well is an energy hog, plus its 15YO.

I bought both Samsungs on the same day,Vinces is installed and working well.

After the WOG rally i had the guys hanging out here and we changed out my fridge (free help!).
I got it in place, all hooked up but never ran it until a few days ago.
I turned it on and left it to get cold and Carol went back in to check it a few hours later and we have a fine mist in the air and a slight oily film on the counters.

The fridge was making a vapor, not a smoke, but an oily vapor and Carol was mad!!

But no madder than i was, because i had to take it back out of the coach!

NOTE:
If your installing a new fridge in your coach, test run it in your garage for a week or so before you install it!!

So,with help from my buddys we pulled the fridge back out,and got it in the shop.
The service dude showed up today to check it out and it has a broken freon line, snapped right off at the compressor.
I told the tech that it had been running for a few days without freon or oil in it and i was not happy about just soldering the line back on.

So,he declared the compressor bad and he will be back Thursday to install the new compressor and charge it up.

Vince,your a lucky man!
this could have been in your coach!
But no matter what,i would have gotten the thing fixed!

I am thinking that this will be what I do when and if my Dometic dies. That could be a month or a decade from now. But, more thank likely I'll do it within the next 3-5 years even if the Dometic keeps running.

Keeping in mind that I have an LX and NOT an LXi, what do I need to upgrade?

1. More batteries?
2. Pure sine wave inverter?

Anything else?

I did change to a new inverter,because i had a bad one.
Lots of guys are using the factory Trace inverter with no problems.
I only have one inverter,by choice.

The good news on my dead fridge is they are overnighting the new compressor, and the tech will be back on Thursday to make it go cold again.

Tommy Bowling, Johnny Slone, and I put a Samsung rf197 stainless steel refrigerator in my 95. Looks so much better and works great. Like you said Randy, now we don't have to worry about an old frig.

Randy, sure it will be fine, but they should give you a new ref.

I don't know who "they" are but they tried that with us when we bought a new one for the house. Our new one had a rattle that the service guy couldn't eliminate, it worked fine but I told him to either order us a new one or send the truck to pick this one up and I would take my business somewhere else. We got a new one !

Randy,
I'll bet this works just like A/C units. The new one has a 5 year compressor warranty, if it is bad and they replace it then you have a new unit with a one year compressor warranty.
I wouldn't take anything less than a new fridge unless they give you a warranty in writing equal to the new refrigerator.
