Default You're all doing it wrong

https://www.powerlinecomponents.com/...automotive.pdf

Check out the last page - Detroit says your 2-stroke should have a 100,000 mile oil change interval if you change the filter regularly.

According to my latest DD 8V92 Engine Service Shop Manual March 2003:

Every 15,000 miles for a vehicle engine you should change your oil and filter and apply Loctite 567 or equivalent to the drain plug threads and tighten to 33-41 ft.lbs.

Wait 20 minutes from engine shut down before checking engine oil level to allow drain back.

Fill oil to full mark and run engine for 10 minutes.

Stop engine for 20 minutes and check again and if required adjust to full mark.

Seems the sales material is in conflict with the service manual.
I wonder how that could happen

I just Googled "detroit diesel 8v92 oil change interval" and was surprised to see that the number 2 hit was a post of mine back in 2008 where I quoted a range of 6K to 15K for Transit and Motor coaches, respectively. from a DD document that doesn't appear to exists online anymore.

Let us know how that works out if you try it.

2005 Manual specifies 15,000 miles max for Coach engine.

Old post, but I'd bet the reason behind the 15K oil change interval for coaches is because they're NOT run 7X24. With intermittent use, you can get moisture condensing in the crankcase, which isn't good for bearings.
