Thumbs up Long shot - Flight simulator?

Anyone here into flight simulator stuff on a PC? I figured if I like it then some you might, too. There's some pretty exciting stuff coming from MS in 2020. I started on MSFS 3 a long time ago.

Here's a video from the developers showing the weather. Everything in this video is in the simulator, not a photo. They modelled basically everything on earth. Every single tree. It's stunning.

That is cool!
I haven't seen home flight simulators in a while. Seems like most of them became much more intensive and actual logged time simulators and the price adjusted accordingly. I've been thinking of getting myself a drone, but I'm torn between the racing first person view drones and the nice video mode drones.

Night-time VFR? The software calculates the effect on the scene of every light source. Every rain drop knows the speed and direction of the wind. Art doesn't just imitate nature, at MSFS it approximates it.

Graphics processors! They've come a long way in PCs. I saw an article the other day about hacking clusters of PS2 consoles running Linux into supercomputers. They used the power of the graphic processors to break encryptions.

I remember playing the first versions of flight simulator on a TRS-80, Apple and IBM PC, it was blocks and lines, but super cool. What a change, the only blurry lines are between reality and virtual reality.
