Ryan, the 466's i worked on back in the 80s looked different,i guess yours may be a 24 valve motor?
The rocker cover sure looks big.

lol, true. 75 when needed, 10mpg is more important most of the time. with a 5.29 currently in the back, both are long shots. going to start looking for a 4.11 gearset (and still contemplating the 3060 if i can do it all cheap enough).

Its a 466P or NDG, 93-97-ish. it was the only series to have the intake built into the valve cover like that

I doubt you will ever reach 10 mpg. And why would you want to drive at 75mph.it is an RV not a funny car. .Wasn't there an FC with a Detroit. I thought it was at Q many years ago Or am I having flash backs ?

to each his own. some like cruising at 55, some dont. some are retired and all the time in the world, others aren't and dont have as much leisure time to get where they need to be.

There should be a tag on the trans with series number etc., post it up, might be a unicorn but I doubt it.
Slight off topic, but orbiting the swap

Mike; given your expertise, is this 4.11 gearing ideal valid on a 300/ZF Coach Or 225hp/mt643? Both?

Thanks in advance

On topic; dt466 is a fantastic engine, md3060 parts are easily available used, look for school bus takeouts, road buses being retired in California all over at the moment.. smog nonsense.. most have 365(powerstroke 6.0) but, the “optioned” ones are regularly available.

No one wants to drop $10k on a dpf system for old bus fleets when incentives exist to update, *eco friendly indeed*

I wouldn't change a ZF/300, just fine as is, moreover the 300 Cat is a bit weak on low end, wouldn't want to give up any gear ratio to get rolling. A non CAC 3208T will be OK w/4.11 if one isn't inclined be first off the traffic light, on the road 75 mph @ 2500. W/4.88 engine is wound pretty tight @ 65 in my world. Like to cruise 1900/2200 rpm myself.
