Smile Magnum MS2812 Inverter

I ordered a Magnum from iMarine on 8/19 and received it yesterday, fast service and a great price!
I hope to get it installed next week using Nogas's tutorial..

Unhappy Inverter trouble

Starting out with batterie s fully charged and nothing on but the refrigerator the inverter drops out after about an hour or so. At that Point the batteries show around 80% Left, is that an indication the inverter is going bad? It works fine driving down the road.

Check the programming on the Magnum and see what the voltage drop out is set to. Then measure the voltage at the Magnum when it drops out, not the batteries or monitors. You need to report in voltages.. 80% can be subjective. How did you arrive at that percentage?

Mine is a Trace Modifide Sine Wave. I am reading the programer in the over head wall. I will check the program. The batteries Went down to 50% overnight with no 120volt on. I will check with a meter when I get Back.

Update; After communicating with Scott some more discovered he's running a modified sine wave on a Samsung fridge. Problem is probably the fridge compressor cutting out on thermal due to the compressor over heating. Modified sine waves are NOT good for electrical motors. Scott will do more measuring to verify.

You are right of course concerning AC elect motors, except::If the Samsung is the Inverter technology, it really does not mater if it is coming from a modified sine wave inverter.

Mallie's right that the Samsung refer should work fine on a MSW inverter. Will pull a little more but shouldn't be significant. Short of a continuous defrost cycle with the doors ajar, it'd be hard for refer to draw that much juice off the batts in an hour. That it "works fine when driving" only means the engine alternator is doing its job. Scott, I'm willing to bet you've either got a big draw elsewhere or even a "little" short OR your batts are having issues. If the inverter is dropping offline at 80% and depending on what the low limit is set at, that says either the coach is going through 130 Ah of juice (in an hour) or available capacity of your coach bank is far less than the advertised new 660ish Ah. Check your batteries and all the connections. Whatever it is, that kind of draw is not normal and some serious multi-meter detective work is needed OR you've got battery issues.
