Default Engine Swaps in Bird for sale

What do you guys think of the engine swap in the 75fc31 that is for sale in the WOG member section. I can't find much discussion on the 5.9 cummins transplant. Does the swap help or hurt. I also keep eyeing the XV in Florida and an fc35 in OK. Do all of the side baths FC's have the same size bathroom and shower? It looks like closet space and kitchen is usually where the extra length is at.

Let's be specific here, 5.9 skoolie applications could come with a 500 series Allison, that's essentially a heavy duty T-400 open, as in non lockup converter. Not the best for a 30k #coach. A 600 series would be a much more durable unit.

To my knowledge all the side bath late 70's to early 80's FC's have the same bath dimensions.

I've seen that used on a lot of older gas industrial engines. My take Is it's the MT600 series little brother.

ALLISON AT 545 SPECIFICATIONSGeneral Purpose Truck and Motorhome Rating Net input power 235 hp (175 kW)Net input torque 445 lb-ft (603 N·m)Vehicle weightUp to 30,000 lbs (13,608 kg) GVW or GCW

Default Rear end ratio.

Hi,
Another thing to consider is the rear axle ratio.
If the transmission does not have overdrive, you may be going pretty slow at the rev limit of a Diesel engine.
Gasser FC,s may not have a “drop” front axle to clear the replacement Diesel engine.
I have not done this swap, repeating what others have experienced on this forum.

the 545 is a weak excuse for a transmission.
It has no overdrive and no lockup converter.
I had one in a one ton pickup with a strong 5.9 cummins and i could flash (make the convert slip) at any speed, when the converter slips the tranny temps go sky high and all of the ATF blows out of the dip stick.
Let me tell you, when hot oil blows onto a hot turbo things get real interesting!
Mike h and i spend a lot of time talking about that tranny, which is really close in size to a turbo 400 GM trans.

The Allison is some what more robust than the 400, however as stated the torque converter is a point of concern. That being said, I've got a couple 643's ready to go from NA birds that are popularly priced.
Seller of bird being discussed has recent road going history, staying in the flat lands, it will probably be OK.
