Default eatting out in the rio grande vally

well last nite connie and I went to McAllen tx to eat at a Chinese restaurant
well our waitress came to our table and started with olla and that's all we got haa?? ok we don't speak Spanish but do speak a couple words kinda ???
she doesn't speak English any better than my spanglish well I said aqua for me coke for conn and we all laughed and pointed at pics of food ... dinner was good waitress was a hoot and all was well ..
after dinner we gave her a tip she said thank you and we said gracias
cant wait for our next lesson Chinese/Spanish...
I should add a English speaking waitress stopped at our table and asked if we would prefer a English speaking waitress and I said no we were ok with the young lady that was trying to learn English,,,, i'm sure my English slowed her progress!!

Proud of you Mikey, some of the best food I have ever had in this world were from restaurants where the help could not speak english. Than again maybe I ate a few things I would not normally have if I knew what they were offering. But deep fried chitterlings and tripe are not all that bad when you have a bottle of hot sauce. LOL

When we were in Roswell, NM we saw a combination Chinese/Mexican restaurant. That has to be a interesting kitchen. We didn't try it

Traveled with Bob and Mary Jo Dilks, a few years back, to Mexico. Bob was better at Spanish than me. Jim and Mary Jo, no speaka da Spanish... Mary Jo said our motto was: Order what you want, eat what you get!! We use this motto quite often!!
