Default Guest charger

I just looked at my charger and one side is connected to my engine batt. and the other to my 8 series house batt. Is this how they should be tied in?

Hey John--

That's a new one on me, but you have a 24V (2-12V in series) like discussed above,, right? Are you sure the 8 batts are in series? What voltage is just one of them? I'm hoping to learn something about 48V coaches, sounds like maybe you have one.

Edit: Ooops, Ed's a few after this clarified that it is not 48V. Beg your pardon!

I have only assisted in replacing 1 full set 10 batteries on an M450.2006
It has 3 shelfs 3 on top 3 in middle and 4 on bottom shelf
Top right battery is one of the engine batteries
Center shelf right hand is other engine battery, they are series hooked to be 24 vdc for engine starting they are hooked to the guest charger mounted on door 12volt to each one.
All batteries are 12volt
The top shelf center and left battery ,,,,center shelf ,center and left battery and all 4 on lowest shelf are house batteries. Some are connected in series for the 24vdc systems there is also pick off points for 12vdc system requirements.
There is a very good wiring diagram on the door it shows all battery positions how it's wired and voltages present at different points.
There is another battery strickly for the generatorstarting only mounted up behind passenger side headlight 12vdc it has a separate charger in 1st bay drivers side.
Generator slide power comes from house batteries not the generator battery.

To add to Ed's fine description; you may find that the generator battery was moved when the recall/generator move was done. Mine is now in bay 3, curbside. Also the connectors on your batteries are color coded. 24 volt = green. 12 volt = red. The guest charger should have a 12 vdc output going to each of the starting batteries and those two batteries should be connected in series. Locating them is as easy as reading Ed's description!

John,

This is a copy of my decal located in the main DC distribution panel. That should clarify the battery banks/groupings.
