Default Shorter Blue Birds, what to do?

Hi Everyone! So, Katie and I have had a lot of discussions and just was curious what other folks on WOG think! So here's the back story:

The first Bird Katie and I owned was a 1997 37' BMC and then decided to get a 2003 43' LXI double slide several years ago. With our young family and travels to national parks, I really miss driving a shorter coach. We've thought seriously about getting an M380 and don't rule that out completely, but then had another thought.

I love school buses and have always loved the look of the older FCs, so then a light bulb went off. I might regret downsizing from the LXI, but for some short trips or trips in tight places, a non widebody, non slide, shorter bus might be really nice and also fun! So, for the sake of discussion what do you guys think?

1. Is it crazy to want to be in the 2 bird club by choice??
2. If you were to look at shorter FCs, what would you try to find in one?
3. Are some types of FCs more dependable than others?

I had a great conversation with John Wyatt since he's had experience with an 31 FC and a PT 36. I figured I'd see what other people think as well!

-Bryan

Bryan, We don't need to confirm you sanity but being in the two bird club would be a good idea for the reasons you identified. Not having owned a 43' but have driven one several thousand miles I agree there are places you can't get it so you could be missing out on some nice campsite settings. As you know from your collection of buses they were built for various reasons. Locale and routes and customer demands were part of those reasons. We have a 35' coach and we have been in some very nice places with it but I think a 31' would also be a great coach. Maybe a 31' toad could be in your future

I probably shouldn't even admit to some of my bad habits but 2 buses makes complete sense to me. Couple years ago I had 8 motorcycles.

My suggesting that it's ok is probably a testament to the negative, but be that as it may.

I'd try to find an 87 or later 31FT FC which I understand they made one or two of. That would be ideal.

Why not? You may never drive that LXI again!

I know where theres a nice FC 31,it will have a 250hp 3208 and a 3060 allison transmission in it by next spring.
Its running and driving now, with a 210 cat and 4 speed.
Nice old bird, new tires, not cheap at 30k as is,35k with turbo and allison.

Yeah, I question my own sanity a bit!

What's the history on this one? Why so much as that seems high compared to others around, but is it pristine and belong in a museum? Gold plated toilet seats?

If you want to make yourself feel better about the 35K wonder over a used car lot for ten minutes.
