I have owned a 67 with the 391 and hydraulic brakes. The transmission is very difficult to get serviced as are the brakes. I had the master cylinder and hydrovac booster rebuilt, NOS parts are not generally available and if you change the system to use newer parts, you are liable for any brake failure of the system that you design. I got my 67 for free. It cost me a grand to get the engine running and brakes working. I drove it from LA to the SF Bay area, worked on it for about a year before deciding to get a usable Wanderlodge ( 88 PT 40 ) and then did not have time to work on the 67 any more. I donated it to the Alaska Brain Bus project. After another hundred hours or so of work, Adam drove it to Tacoma where it was shipped to Anchorage for him to continue to work on. With the perspective of actual ownership of something like you are contemplating, I suggest that you find a newer diesel bird with air brakes and reasonable parts availability. If that is too far out of your budget, you may want to consider a school bus conversion project - you can get a later model bus for fairly low dollars and build it out as you can afford to.

In any case, good luck !
