Default Runaway remnants

A while back there was a FC that suffered a runaway engine failure due do a leaky turbo seal. Image was posted, I'm sure the interior reeks of oil smoke.
I sold the poor soul a replacement engine thanks to Dupree, tore down the core recently and this is the most interesting pieces to show.
The engine was a Cat reman, all 8 cylinders sleeved, nice standard crank and the good turbo duty rods, one head is junk, I think the block can be saved and one head appears to be good.
Poor soul had just purchased the FC for 15k, and I don't believe he got 200 miles down the road. It's a shame as the engine was excellent before the failure.

OUCH!!
So,looks like the piston hit a valve,or it dropped a valve.
Extreme RPM.
The rod looks bent, but it took a heck of a beating, strong rods!

Several of the valve keepers were pulled into the spring retainers pretty far, it WAS a very nice engine. One intake valve broke and wedged sideways in the wasted piston. The crank shaft/rod bearings looked pretty darn good. Haven't taken the oil pump apart yet, it had to digest a lot aluminum.

Think I see a slight bend to the right also.

So why did it stop? Run out of oil? I would think with 7 cylinders still functioning it would have kept on till it disintegrated.

When ever I think about what I would do if my engine blew, I always thought of Mike and that 3208 250 he had for sale. I guess it's sold, so will there be another one I can dream about?

it takes a catastrophic failure in a t urbo for that to happen, very rare,if you consider all the turbos out there.
