Default Cannon Plug protection

Many malfunctions are caused from poor connections at Cannon Plugs. Most electrical woes can be traced to oxidized connections or faulty switches, relays or solenoids.

Dielectric grease should be in everyone's toolbox and another beneficial product is Corrosion X. Just 'google' Corrosion X and read of the many things this product can be used for...moisture displacement, lubricant, penetrant and more.

While at the Oshkosh air show this summer Shane and I bought Corrosion X...now if I can just remind myself to keep it handy when working on the bird...oh and it is approved for aircraft also.

You can buy Corrosion X at any airplane parts company, just look up Aviall they are located at all major airports all over the country.

CorrosionX Compatibility with Certain Materials

It's always a good idea to test a product in an inconspicuous area first. Many have contacted us regarding the use of CorrosionX products near or on rubber, plastics, and paint. Listed below are some known products that may have compatibility issues with CorrosionX products. If, after you use a CorrosionX product on a material, you discover some compatibility issues, please let us know so we can add the material to the list. For the most part, CorrosionX products are compatible with most materials.

Rubber: No visible effect on Buna-N, Viton, or Neoprene products (such as gaskets, O-rings, or seals) but slight swelling and/or softening of butyl rubber items.

Adhesives & Sealants: Usually no effect but some adhesives may soften and sealants with silicone may experience slight swelling. Test in an inconspicuous area prior to widespread application.

Painted Surfaces: Paints typically used on aircraft, automobiles, and machinery are unaffected by CorrosionX. However, polishes and some wax coatings applied to painted surfaces may soften by the application of any hydrocarbon product, i.e., a product containing chemical compounds made up of carbon and hydrogen such as petroleum (oil)-based products. Waxes also contain hydrocarbons, so chemicals (oils, solvents) that contain hydrocarbons can soften or strip off wax or polish. CorrosionX is a hydrocarbon product because of its mineral oil base.

Painted and Varnished Furniture and Canoes: RejeX for Furniture protects and repairs dull finishes and even protects wooden canoes—provided that the appropriate finish, such as spar varnish, polyurethane, or lacquer has been applied to the surface of the furniture and/or canoe first. It is not intended for use on porous or highly oxidized painted surfaces or to fill fine scratches.

Plastics: CorrosionX is compatible with most commonly-encountered plastics such as: Acrylic, Polyester, Nylon, Vinyl, Dlrin, Teflon, Formica, Polyethylene and Polypropylene. However, if you have doubts about using CorrosionX with any plastic not mentioned, test in an inconspicuous area first.

Fabrics: CorrosionX will be absorbed into the fibers of most fabrics, thereby creating slight staining. The stain is not permanent and may be removed with naphtha or mineral spirits.

Storage: Bulk—store at room temperature (50° F or more); aerosols—not more than 120° F; RejeX—store at temperatures between 40° F and 80° F; it will separate if it freezes.

Shelf Life: Bulk—indefinitely (as long as container remains capped); aerosols—3 years; RejeX—18 months.
