Default A/C Air filter removal 2001 43 LXI

Hi everyone,

I have a 2001 43 LXI. I have three interior A/C units, and the air register is mounted on a small panel mounted with four philips screws as well as the panel being mounted with four philip screws. I know the filters are behind the panels so I removed the panel screws and the panel will not come off. I am not applying too much pressure as I fear I may break the panel. Are these panels glued as well as screwed down? Please help by providing proper procedure to remove the panel without destroying any trim or panel.

Thanks in advance,

On my 2001 LXi the 18”x18” panel with the 4 screws will come down, you might
Need to pry it with something that won’t damage the upholstery. Probably stuck
From not being taken down in a while. Mine had the thin foam filters cut to fit on each side of the outlet. Not much filter area so need to be changed often.

On my '99 LXi the small inserts in the 18x18 panels are held in by a couple little screws along the sides; they were originally designed to just clip in and hold the filter element.
The full 18x18 panels are held in by 6 screws; four revealed when the insert panel is removed and two more at the back under small (<1") circular covers that are snap fit and just pry out.
