Default SS Badger Ferry Manitowoc to Ludington

Pretty sure that Dawn and I are going to cross Lake Michigan on the SS Badger ferry that runs from Manitowoc WI to Ludington MI on Sepember 4 to get to the rally at Poncho's Pond. At $480+ for the two of us, the bus and the toad, it can't be justified but should be a unique adventure. The Badger is a National Historic Landmark and is the last coal fired passenger vessel operating on the Great Lakes.

Current prices are: $72 per person, $72 per automobile, and $7 per foot for motorhomes. Departures from Manitowoc at 2:00pm daily after Sept 1.

Anyone else wanna go?

Nice trip across especially at nite. No AC in commin areas. Once you re at sea nice breeze. Be careful on the bow. Easy to get sun/wind burned.

Looks like fun I took my 1980Fc on the Cap may /Lewes ferry once. I would love a tour of the SS Badger engine room

I wish we could join you. We crossed the lake 9 years ago with are class c and a trailer and it was expensive. It was fun. As they say Big Ships More Fun.
Enjoy the trip.

We discussed this also. We have done this in a car. Our Birds have been on many ferries. Enjoy!

I like the idea and hope to make the trip one day. The NC ferry system runs to the outer banks. I haven't had my BB there, but I did take a 35' TT once. They take anything up to 60 feet and think they charge about the same.

I've looked trying this before. I've heard you're not allowed to access the bus while enroute.

It is true, they won't let you down there. But, before you get to shore, they usually let the big rig drivers go down and get it running and aired up before it gets into dock. You wouldn't want to be down there because it's usually really hot. I've ridden a few times with a car. I tried to get my way into the engine room for a tour, but nobody was able to get it to happen for some unknown reason.
