Smile Bird Bite versus Race Bug

Just joined the forum after purchasing my first Wanderlodge, a
43 ft. LXi.

Although I have only owned my Bird for 4 weeks I have already received a great deal of technical support and good old fashioned patience from many.

A special thanks to Steve Bertils, Randy, Glenn Rodgers and many more.
You have made our mechanical challenges a true learning experience.

We have been very fortunate to have been a part of the auto racing community for over 35 years and sense the BBWL community will also be an equally positive experience.
For those of you who might be curious , our website is www.sanchezmotorsports.com
We have been fortunate enough to have raced everything from Indy Cars and Nascar to dirt sprint cars and sports cars.

What a great country........

Hi Frank,

Congratulations on your new to you 'Bird purchase. I fixed the link to your website so it now works by just clicking on it.

If you ever happen to be competing at any of the South Carolina Region SCCA races, I'll most likely see you in Tech Inspection or at the weigh scales after the races.

That is a nice looking stable of your Camaro and Vette, that a far cry from when you raced those Spridgete's and Bugeye back in the beginning right

I believe that Paul Lazar used to race a Spridgete back then too and like Randy said there are still a few of us racers here on the forum. Tell us more about when and where you will be racing next. I'll be at Maxton, NC next week for the ECTA Land Speed Races.

Be sure to check out the Fall Maxton Blue Bird Mini-Rally maybe we will see you there, it may be something different to do with your cars for a change.

John, Its good to hear from you.
You probably don't remember, but we met when I lived in Chattanooga 1986-1990 and ran open wheel Formula Atlantics all over the South Atlantic.
This year we ran at Summit Point West Virginia started third, finished first overall.
We are running a Super Production Factory Built Dodge Daytona powered by a Maserati motor that won the Imsa Championship with Dorsey Shroeder and John Fergus.
Even when we have started last we have been able to win. Its a very trick car.
Will continue to keep in touch.
We are trying to get to Road Atlanta and Charlotte this year.
Of course we are bringing the BIRD............and the toter home and the stacker and the dog and the cats and maybe even the guppies.
See ya there.......

Frank,

Be sure to bring a dated photo from the late 80's, because if you are anything like me you won't look the same That Dodge Daytona sounds cool and very unusual to say the least, it is amazing what kinds of car/engine combinations that you see in the SP class.

I will be working Tech. at this SCCA National Race;

SCR Club Racing - Next Event
National / CCPS
August 23-24, 2008
Carolina Motorsports Park
Kershaw, SC
South Carolina Region SCCA

CMP is a beautiful track, with good facilities available for the cars, with new garages for rent that are very roomy, you'd probably enjoy it. They have electric hookups in the paddock area but only 20 amp, but they are rumored to be changing that in the future, I just run the generator on my 'Bird. There is usually a group track rental for practice the day before the race too.

If you haven't seen them already, here are a few photos of the last race at CMP that I worked, Jim Brookshire was there also with his F/Vee and his SP 'Bird.

It had been 20 years since I had last worked a SCCA race and things have really changed since then, so I'm on a steep learning curve, luckily they are not relying on me for answers

I won't be hard to miss .
The Spanish accent and the bright yellow team jacket always give me away.
See ya there.

Welcome Frank.
Former dragracer and road racer here. I raced a laydown enduro kart at old Road Atlanta before the newest track layout. That was one of my favorite tracks back in the early 90's. Looks like you have tried all the racing disciplines. Lots of gearheads in the ranks of WOG.

Welcome Frank,

John is right, I raced SCCA bugeyes and TR3s back in the 60s. There are more gearheads and all kinds of racers in this forum than any I've seen outside auto specific.

I notice you are in Delaware, if you ever need pit crew etc, I'm just outside DC.
