we had about 6 fire trucks, and a huge tanker.
This country is dry, they already have some fires burning here.
I would like to think they were here to save the coach, but we know better, they were here to save the houses.

Tomorrow we stop in at the firehouse,to donate to the beer fund.

Glad everybody is okay. Quick thinking and actions. I agree the extra insulation in the muffler chase is not a good idea.
Randy - pusser haircut - I like.

Glad everyone is OK.

Might not be a bad idea for others with roof exhaust to ensure not only exhaust pipe integrity but also to ensure there are no other "upgrades" out there.

That could have ended terribly. Having an extinguisher, hose and ample water on-board for this type of emergency is a must for all of us. Thank God you are all OK.

Quick thinking on everybody's part. Carol, you did good on borrowing the ladder.

Glad no one was injured...stay safe and have fun.

WOW Sure glad everything worked out ok. Last year at RATS we talked with Patticake about this exact scenario. She showed us a bag that they keep packed withall of the important papers, meds, etc that you can grab on the way out of the coach. Barbara came back and made ours up. Thankfully we have not had to use it but it is a good idea.

A recommendation remove existing insulation and add ceramic insulation. It is a spun Glass product is extremely compact and offers good thermal break you can put an oxy acetylene torch on one side and your bare hand on the other and not feel the heat
Kurt Horvath has a quantity of the insulation
Also when replacing the exhaust system use a smaller diameter muffler it does not decrease the exhaust flow but it creates a larger cavity in the exhaust tunnel for increased draft of fresh air
Dupree Products has complete exhaust systems

Well thank goodness you are all okay. How scary!

I was just asking Darrell the other day where the fire extinguishers are in our coach. I don't think we have any inside the coach. This certainly serves as a wake up call to purchase a couple before we hit the road again. And yes I second the remark that Carol was one smart woman to have gotten that ladder.

PS-We did put a halon unit in the Norcold when we installed the new Ammish cooling unit. Feel better about that. Will check the exhaust from above.

Wow! Glad everyone is ok and no major fire. Quick thinking and reaction time saved the day, I'm sure. Safe travels for the rest of the trip.

I noticed that the firemen all had on their forest fire outfits, so they were prepared for that. I bet they have had their hands full out that way.
