Question Irma damaged my Bird

Irma damaged my precious bird. I am now wondering if I should report it to the insurance company or just add it to the list of things left to fix on the bird. Not really sure how much of this can even be found anymore to replace it with.

The bird after Irma. A tree dropped a significant branch on it.

And damaged my air horn as well as broke my windshield, broke my passenger side window, damaged my spotlight, crushed the roof top dash a/c evaporator, tore off my passenger windshield wiper, damaged 2 of my window awnings...the large one and the kitchen one, broke a side marker light, broke a roof top a/c shroud and damaged one of the rear view side mirrors.

So should I report it or just fix it myself?

Thanks Randy. I do have to say even though the Bird sustained damage...she took the hit like a champ and spared the house. That's one tough bird!

Have a shop quote you a total to repair everything. Subtract your deductible for "Other Than Collision Loss".

Now you will have a number that you can decide on.

Calculate the increase cost of insurance once you have a claim.

Recent experience. I've had a couple claims total payout $3000. BlueSky dropped RV coverage and I had to go shopping. The fact that I had two claims and one speeding ticket cost be about $350 more a year. They get you coming and going. They never loose .

I've been driving 50 plus years. Can't even guess what I've paid in but I would guess StateFarm is to the good a minimum of $50,000 and apparently I'm still not a "good enough" client. They do it because they can.

Good luck with your repairs and I don't know what you should do but you are going to loose either way (which I am sure you already know)

If you don't put in a claim then the insurance company is the winner, but I know it's always a tough call.

Make the claim !
If you dont
Why did you buy insurance ?
Maybe your rates will go up maybe not.
But considering the damage in Fla
Everyone's rates are going to go up
That you can count on

My unasked for opinion is to fix it yourself.
My opinion--roof top evaporator might not work anyways as far as cooling. Mine had given up the ghost before I got it and I just pulled it off the roof. Would run the genset with the front roof air on when needed cooling for the driver.
Air horns are pretty easy to find on ebay.
Marker side lights (I just replaced mine, not LED's) cost was $4.00 each off ebay.
Spot lights are a boating item. A marine store would have them when you could afford it.
Now the awnings would cost, if they needed to be replaced. Bent arms are pretty cheap from Zip Dee. The material can be gotten from a sail maker if you wanted to change it out.
The roof ac shroud can be bought for about $100.
A glass company can replace your side window fairly cheap, I would think.
The front window, I wouldn't have an answer for that at this time.
The side rear mirror maybe just need glass? If the mirror frame is ok, replacement glass is pretty cheap to glue it on.
All in all, I'd save the insurance for another day.
Just my unasked for opinion.

Well I am happy to report we FINALLY have power again ...13 days later.
I tried to put in a claim for the auto insurance but realized I only had liability on it for now since we were not driving it anytime soon. Strike one.
I am now in the midst of filing against our home owners insurance, I mean it was the bus that saved the house. The adjuster will be here Tuesday morning.
We were able to get it un-stuck and moved back to the driveway. Thankfully nothing happened to the interior....no water intrusion.
