Dave, I hope things work out ok for you on the coach and contents. Nothing I can say will help you with Lexi. The loss of a family member is devastating. I still struggle with my loss of Squirt. I wish you strength and courage through all of this.

This is so very sad. The loss of a pet would be extremly difficult for any of us. The memories of the good times and smiles you shared will be of comfort.

I am so sorry for your loss. The loss of a pet/traveling companion is heartbreaking. We travel with our dog and have always worried when leaving him in the coach. A friend of ours who travel with their cats introduced us to the Canary. It monitors temp, air quality and movement inside the coach. If anything changes it sends a text with video. Again I am so sorry for what happened to you. Take care.

<<I am afraid they may consider this a total loss which will be a shame since the interior can be rebuilt. I am not one to toot my own horn but I have the ability and the tools to completely gut, clean, rebuild and reassemble the interior back to her original glamour (with a few updates of course).>>

When a adjuster decides it is a total loss, he sometimes forgets to phrase it as a "constructive total loss." A constructive total loss is when the cost for repair of an item is more than the current value of that item.

If this is the case ask the adjuster what he feels the insurance company will net when they sell the coach for salvage, after all expenses and fees to the auction company. Then offer to pay that amount (or less) or what ever you would be willing to buy it back for, while figuring in the cost of towing.

If you buy it back you will have most of your agreed value in cash, you will still own the coach and it will not have a salvage title. (in most states)

I visited with Dave, and saw the damage, it’s bad, but definitely repairable, it’s all up the adjuster now.

Dave and Nicole I’m so sorry for your loss. I know it’s heartbreaking to loose your loved one and especially this way. I worry about leaving our friends aboard while we’re out and about. I wonder if it would make sense to have a sign on the door advising of animals on board so that someone would take some action to try and save them. I seldom lock the Bus just for that reason. The only thing of value on the bus while we’re out is Obo and Huckleberry Finn and their survival is more important to us than being worried about someone needing something of ours enough to try and take it. Just thinking.
