The PD-4501 Scenicruisers were equipped with two 4.7L (281 ci) GM 4-71 I4 diesel engines (1954-1960). A college friend of mine back in 1959-60 worked for Greyhound changing engines in the Scenicruisers and often boasted about how quickly they could roll an engine out and have a replacement installed and running.

All PD4501's equipped with twin 4-71 engines were later converted to a single 8v71/4 speed Spicer as a result of GM being sued by Greyhound. I believe Marmon Herrington did the conversion.

I had a chance to really take a good look at that several years back at a Bus Nuts rally in Arcadia Florida

The guy who used to own my Prevost (Ben Willmore) has a '63 Flxible done by that same shop (and a few others) - it's even more impressive.
