Thanks for the info!
I'm sure it is very efficient given native 12 volts, too.

I have a Whirlpool unit in our coach, Perfect fit. I use the open area on top for storage of bread, etc. and used a piece of aluminum angle at the rear to keep items from falling down the back. The condenser coil is on the back and the arrangement makes a nice chimney effect to circulate air behind it. Inverter is MSW and the refrigerator has no problem with it. With an 8D and 4 golf cart batteries we can go 2 to 3 days before having to run the generator for recharge.

$4,000???

My $1,500 GE 18 cu ft replacement for the malfunctioning Samsung will be delivered right after Xmas. Pictures and eval to follow. With much higher customer ratings, the GE is Energy Star rated while the soon to be gone Samsung was not. It will be interesting to see how the two current draws compare. If Nova Cool pulls 5a when your two compressors are running, then your Watts total is about what my Samsung uses so not much advantage there.

BTW - a Fisher-Paykel is in the $2000-$2500 range and a Sub-Zero is close to $9000

Martin,
Can you kindly provide a few photos of your refer install? Curious if I can use my original PACS 1500 W inverter?

Thanks, Jim

5 amps @ 12v = 60 watts

Our apartment size fridge pulled around 240 watts to run the compressor .

The Nova Kool pulls less wattage and there is no added power loss going through an inverter .

Default Another Nova Kool fan

No, not an electric fan, fan as in fanatic.

I installed a Nova Kool RFU9000 in place of my old Dometic over a year ago and have been very pleased with it. I just recently pulled it out and added about 2 inches of styrofoam sheets around it. I have sealed up the back and top vent areas, but left the door and vent cover in case the next owner wants to go back to an absorption. Here is my post about it when I installed it.

As I read it, each compressor in the nova kool rfu 7300 pulls 3.5 amps at 12v, and there are separate compressors for the refrigerator and freezer. So max draw is 14 amps if all FOUR compressors are running.

Yes, and 14 amps of 12vdc is approx. 1.4 amps of 120vac.

We installed a Nova Cool in our SP 36 over 10 years ago after multiple failures of the original absorption units. Was very satisfied with the performance and I think it is still operating. Only looks expensive if compared with residential AC units, not if compared to larger multiple door replacement absorption units in the later coaches. Really like the looks of the installation in that M380.

Jim Skinner> I would never run anything on a Pacs inverter. They were bad when new and by now they are all junk. Toss it out!!! Mine was functioning but put out way over 140 volts!!!
