Default AC quiet cover

Spent some time experimenting with a decibel app in trying to lower the sound level of the ac . It's just too loud but now it's not. Was able to reduce -5 db by making the cover shown in the pics. It is 1/4 luan and inch per side larger than the Dometic cover. The spacers are 1.50. Screws are sheet metal #8, 3 in long.
The foam used as sound deadener is a gutter guard bought at Lowes. Total investment less than $20.00. I also covered the quick cool sliding louver with foam on the back side.
Here are the test results. All taken by Debra as she sits in the recliner closest to the center unit. Ac set on high fan.

Stock cover 62 db
New cover,no foam 61
New cover with foam 57

Much easier to talk and hear the tv. And it looks better than the stock one .
Will repaint it when I do the next one as Debra pointed out my paint choice was off. Thankfully she can actually see colors.
Hope this helps someone out.

Paul really a great job. Did you ever think you have to many apps on your phone. Debra was the professional on this project. Color does matter.

Interesting and very good looking! Where does the AC "suck" from now? Through the foam?

I mounted panel style automotive Air Cleaners in my intakes. Used the track for vinyl siding. Not sure if it's quieter (I dont have the techy apps) but it does keep the dust down.
Your method is much prettier than what I did.

Having read that these units will ice up if intake is restricted I decided to leave an open path as shown in the pic.
I am continuing to look for a foam product that has more rigidity but less restriction than the gutter guard. That would allow the entire perimeter to be foamed and drop the sound further. It's a work in progress and any help appreciated.
