Default !978 Gas Onan Generator

Any suggestions on gasoline grades and fuel additives to keep my gen happy and running smoothly? I have been using Rec 90 fuel but am wondering if I really need the extra cost associated with it.

Non - Ethanol if you can find it.

Mix Berrymans B-12 or Seafoam with it unless you burn enough gas to keep it fresh. I would probably mix it anyway no matter how much you use it. Helps keep gum and varnish from forming.

Wal-mart or auto parts stores carry it. Berrymans is cheaper but I think it is as good as Seafoam.

Default non ethanol fuel

Non ethanol fuel is available in about 11000 gas stations. A look at Google will show you a map of where these stations are. I use non eth. on all my ayrd equipment and it works great. Cost is at building centers 10 to 20 bucks a gallon, and at a gas station about the same as regular fuel (2bucks +/_.)
A small lawnmower dealer told me that there NEVER was a small gas engine designed to burn ethanol fuel

Marvel Mystery Oil has been go to additive for gas for all my yard equipment. MMO works great, and I have not had any issues with my small equipment since adding to all my gas. We just recently have stations nearby that carry non ethanol, and I have not used it yet. But good old MMO works good and you can get a gallon of it at most auto parts stores. Also good for fixing sticky valves in your air system on the bus.

Hi Tom, Late to the party, but I just noticed this. I have a 1976 4 cylinder gas Onan JC 12.5 that purs now.
Sentry fuel additive is by far the best current product that I have used. I have never had a rusted fuel tank with it, and it keeps water at bay, they have it in gas and diesel versions, every tank and every fill up I never miss. Juergen and Max hendrix are correct about Non ethanol, what a crock that it was ever allowed to be produced!, using up 11--1/2 times the good fuel to make 1 gallon. Less government!

Check with the Smokstacks forum and I bet you will find other suggestions. Smokstack is a good place to go for any old gas burning Onan issues.

Yes, they were instrumental in getting a manual to rebuild the power head and AVR.

Thank you gentleman for the heads up on the Smokestacks Forum. Maybe now I will be able to get some answers on my whole house Generac Standby. It has a habit of "killing" the battery.
