A good smart charger is the best thing you can do for lead-acid batteries. Set up the charge profile as recommended by the battery manufacturer. With a good charger, you should only need to water them 3-4 times/year. Add hydrocaps and you may get it down to twice per year. Equalize as necessary, but at least once per year.



But, NO oil.

I'm no battery oiler, but I still set batteries on something other than concrete. I don't think it makes a difference but I can't help myself.

Ha! thats an old wives tail too,unless your in cold country!
My dad would fight you over that,he said you had to put the battery on a board or it would go dead!
