1900rpm in a BB would be around 55mph, so just over 3mpg, I'll keep my 8V92!

Yeah, but that 3408 would abide a 2.73:1 axle ratio in a bus like that, so you could run 70 MPH at 3 MPG

Sort of like the opposite of my uncle's '84 Chevy Van. He had a 305 paired to a 3.08 gear. That engine was killing itself to move that thing fully loaded. I tried telling him a 3.73 would give better fuel economy.
