Default Driver's seat replacement

I've searched the forum and found information from a few years ago about replacing seats with Sears or ISRI.

Has anyone done a seat replacement recently? Would anyone like to give input on what they looked at and what they liked or didn't like?

We have the original seats in our 2000 LXi. They are very soft, and when we first sit in them they seem comfortable. But after a few hours of driving, my lower back is very stressed - I feel like I slip down in the seat and don't have much support. It doesn't feel that the foam is worn out, just that the seat is not supportive. I'm not sure how I would determine that another seat would be better as it seems that driving for a while is the factor that points out that these seats are uncomfortable.

Thanks in advance for any input you might have for me!

i have the Sears seating seats, they work real well.
However,i recently sat in a nice Bostrom seat, and it was super nice.

Last night Carol was telling me that Bose, the speaker people have a seat built just for long haul truckers,i have not seen one,but she found pics online.

If i was shopping for seats today,i would be looking at Bostrom,it was priced right at $600,according to the truck driver that had it.

Those Bose seats look nice, there are some videos on the world wide web that show how they work...be ready to mortgage the house to buy one.

The big truck parts places often have some seats to sample. I think you get what you pay for. I have a legacy seat and I think it's a big improvement over the flex steel which was fine in it's day. The foam padding gives out and that seems to be the reason. In addition I think the seat becomes contoured to the back side of the individual driving so when you change owners you probably need to change seats. That's my thinking. Being able to adjust the seat in order to change the pressure points is a big advantage. I'm not wild about the air suspension but that seems to be standard. My complaint about the air is that inflating the air bag changes the height of the seat. I'm short legged and if the seat is inflated enough to support my weight it's too tall. I've solved that to a large degree by chaining the seat down so it can't go up beyond a certain point but I could do with a regular electrically adjustable seat just as easily.

A good seat is an absolute requirement if you are going to drive long hours. After two hours on the flex steel I was having a real sore butt. I can drive at least another hour before I notice anything troublesome with the Legacy.

Does a Bostrum, Isri, or Sears truck seat bolt right in without any modification? I have a 96 WB air chair and after 5000 hours of use, it no longer feels very comfortable.

Simple answer is NO. I made an adapter bracket but you could just drill a couple new holes in the floor. I used National Seats which is a division of Bostrom. My Butt is very happy!

I wouldn’t need the Bose, but a commercial truck seat has to be more comfortable than rv the seats that are made to impress on a showroom floor.

I get my seats from 4 states chrome shop, they have about 20 seat styles, brands and colors on the floor.
Seats are not just seats,i sit in them all until i find one that feels good to my bony butt.

You will spend a grand at least on a new air ride seat.
And like RandyS said, they do not just bolt into the same holes..
