Default Hot!!

I've bragged more than once about living in a place where it never, or hardly ever, gets hot. Last year when we headed off into the 100+ temps east and north of us at the end of July we had only had two days that broke 70, and that only by a degree or two.

Today broke the mold. Record for this date was 69, set in 1936. We apparently hit 85 at the official weather station in Eureka, although have to wait until tomorrow to be sure. If we did, that will tie the all-time June record, set in 1903 and matched in 1945.

Those of you sitting in the 114 Palm Springs weather today, or 104 just 100 miles east of us in Redding will probably say "85? Big deal!" but you have to recognize that almost no home here has air conditioning. I've never heard of one. All we could do was move the air some with fans.

I went out and did some unnecessary shopping this afternoon to enjoy the air conditioned car and supermarket!

At my business they were quite worried about the aquarium temps, but again not much they could do about it. Hopefully everything comes through OK.

Default Escape and a Solution

Just one reason to own a Bird! - a way to escape. This time of year, most would consider a place that barely reaches the 80’s a good place to be! No A/C required in Flagstaff AZ today with a high of 82°, even in a solar panel friendly site . While just 2 hours south in Phoenix it will reach a not uncommon 111°F .

Found the attached chart - is easy to see that climate change is normal and to cool things off we need more sunspots & volcano eruptions . Just not today please, as I’m headed over to Sunset Crater to have a look .

Ha! I'm just north of you right now in Klamath and it's been really nice at our campground. But drive away from the coast 2 miles to 101, it was 15 degrees difference. Even under the redwoods it's HOT. I wore a coat last week on the Ave. of Giants

Looked at you on the map - didn't realize there was a campground on that side of the river! Of course we've never stayed anywhere within 50 miles of home, so there are probably a lot I don't know about.

This place has a few trees to keep it cooler. We need a new dog collar, just might run by while we're here. Least we can do for BBMaps
