Hey Chris, I was glad you made it to the rally in Maine. It was great meeting you & your girlfriend.

I hear your wants and needs but your coach is in phenomenal shape and you would be hard pressed in finding a PT38 in that condition. The Detroit 2 Strokes do sound awesome but often require a little more loving than the Cat's do.

I would investigate putting up a storage barn like others have said. Here is one idea: https://www.farmtek.com. At least give yourself some more time with the FC to see if going the PT route would be needed.

I love my FC! It has the best of both worlds. The more coach you have the more $$$ you spend. I drive mine 68-72 mph. Of course road dependent. That is my sweet spot . Don't be afraid to DRIVE the 3208 .

Yet nobody seems to drive in the rain, in the dark, or more than 2 hours a day. Doug is the exception, but he has a 38 so I'll give him a pass

Andy!
The real truth about not driving at night or more than 300 miles is "we don't have to!".
Its not a Bird thing, its an "age" thing!
It could also be a JOB thing!
My day starts like this, coffee, check my emails, make sure the WOG is running smooth, make a bunch of phone calls, walk Molly, check the bus and toad, then we get on the road.
If we are just cruising,we stop for lunch, stop at junk yards, maybe even stop to nap!
But when its time to go,we go like mad.

I'm in Alaska (my 3rd trip) in a 43' LXI,i drive in the mud,in the rain,in the snow and so far this trip about 1000 miles on dirt roads.
The last time we were up here Carols mom got very sick and we drove from Alaska to Florida in 5 days (i guess thats more than 200 miles per day).
A few years ago i drove 1000 miles in a day and lots of other guys have done the same, many times.

just sayin...

Dan it was great meeting you, too! I'm in no rush to change from the FC. I've been thinking out my LED projects the whole way home.

Best case is that I find someone with a PT in the back yard around the corner from me they want to sell for a grand! Then I can have a pampered original FC and a blank slate big bus.

Last year Carol and i took a dirt mountain road from 133 down into Crest Butte Colorado,50 miles or so of mountain back road driving, towing a jeep.
Look at a map, that road will show up.
An awesome drive, more than 2 hours and no naps...

You know I like to poke fun at you all with the relaxed lifestyle, but I'm working up to it! My eyesight isn't great, so I try not to do too many miles after dark anymore, so I'm catching up!

Since I have working cruise now and dialed in the steering 500 miles a day isn't very taxing. Rowing back and forth all the time was very taxing. 500 a day is not ideal, but those salt mines....

The young guys that drive 500+ miles in the rain, snow, dark, traffic, etc., are the reason my bank account magically gets additional $$$ each month from uncle Sam. Ain't life great?
