Default FC gear ratios.

Last night i was having a conversation with a WOG member about FC rearend ratios.
My SIL had an 84 FC with a 4:11 rearend.
It was fast on the flatlands but in the hills and towing heavy it would not be my first choice.
Even though she used to go to Seatle every year from Fl. towing a Suburban on a trailer.

Woody had a NA FC that we regeared and I think we put a 4:33 or a 4:56 gear in it,he towed a pickup and it did fine.

So,how many of you FC guys have re-geared your rearends?
What ratio did you put in?

The coach we are talking about will run the east coast mostly,with a trip or two to the west coast.
We can sacrifice some climbing power in order to have more speed on the flat lands.

Ideas?

Randy, The PO of our FC re geared. 4.56 I think and it will run 74 on flat West Texas roads. It will run a GPS indicated 74 MPH towing a VW on a dolly. It also will pull the Liberty without problems.

Thanks Rick. Then we can go to;
http://www.roadranger.com/Roadranger/index.htm
Look under "Related Information, Tools you can use" and you will find a Road Speed Calculator.
Going from memory, you open this and enter in your tire size, rear end ratio, transmission and desired rpm. I doubt that it will list the Allison transmission but if it does not just use any direct manual transmission like a 10 speed because direct is direct.
This tool will let you calculate your road speed at a specific rpm with different ratios.
I could not open it on my iPad but I have used it in the past and that is why I am going from memory
