Question Ants- Carpenter or other

We have noticed some ants in our BB. We can't use commercial chemicals due to nature of our daughters medical issues with allergies.
We have ants that have wings in the bathroom ceiling and coming also from the floor. Im thinking they may have also been attracted to a leak from our shower. This has been an issue since we bought the BB. We have caulked around the shower but if we still have winged ants something may be leaking that we don't know about. There is no water leaking under the coach. No wet spots on ceiling and no wet spots on walls. We had them last year and they went away we thought they were from a campsite we were at in S. Carolina. also picked up "stink-bugs" from there.
My question is I want to be able to look into the ceiling to see if there are nests. Im sure there are because we have had them over winter. Also What is the easiest way to go into ceiling? I thought about just removing the "puck lights" and spraying for them but don't want to runt them into the walls. I appreciate any ideas. Thanks

I would just use Diatomaceous Earth. It works well in killing ants.

Can't help you with what is best to get rid of them, because of your daughter's issues, but you need to take precautions at each place you stop at to prevent them from getting in, in the first place. If you are primarily down south you will most likely have to do this in most places you stop. Every time we have gone someplace down south I always spray around the bus with Home Defense. Again, don't know if that becomes an issue for your daughter or not, but maybe being outside it isn't a problem. The fire ants down in Pine Mountain at the WOG rally have always been an issue. A lot of the guys use the stuff that Rick just mentioned. I guess it is even safe to eat from what I hear so maybe that won't bother your daughter. Good luck

Don't know what diatomaceous earth costs at garden centers but you can purchase a 25# bag at pool supply houses for about $27. It's used for filter medium and under vinyl liners.

I've had good luck with this stuff. Place the traps on bathroom floor, counter tops or at any location where you see them. I don't think it's toxic, but you can read the finer print-

Make sure they ARE ants. Could also be winged termites.

I've found that a lot of ants come in by climbing electrical cords or hoses. A dab of petroleum jelly surrounding the hose will stop them in their tracks. BTW there's a town down here that has a Fire Ant Festival. Also, Camilla, GA has the Gnat Festival.

I have enough of the above in my yard. I think I'll pass.

I use these also, the ants take the bait back to the colony and it gets to the source. Takes a few days, I think its one of the least toxic methods.
