I agree that it is odd, never saw that happen. I have seen problems with the gas flame when going down the road, presumably due to wind issues. Back when I had bad house batteries I would switch to gas at lunch stops, and sometimes forgot to switch back before heading down the road.

Since we are all just throwing out guesses.

Is this a new problem ?

Do you have a fan on the top sucking air threw to fins on the back, you could also mount directly on the fins. It could be the air flow when moving ?

It could be a control board issue but I think if it were it would happen all the time.

Maybe give Leon a call, he knows everything about these units.

Red face M380 Dometic Issue

Started about 3 months ago. It happens every time we are on the move. Works great when sitting still.

It has the Fans , good airflow, good seals and stays cold except when M380 is in motion.

Ed W told me he had a new controller for that fridge

If I get real industrious in the next month or so (doubtful) you can have mine. I am considering an RF18 conversion.

When you start the engine does the starter pull the voltage low enough to give a fault to the fridge's 12 volt control board which you aren't resetting until the end of the day when you stop?

Well you got me there. How does the fault get displayed? When I stop everything on the fridge looks normal.

This shouldn't happen since the M380 coach batteries are separate from the engine start.

Well Blue Bird mid way thru production of the M380 removed the cross tie relay for chassis and coach batts and cross tied them with a copper Bar where relay was originally.

Anyway still wonder how you see faults on Fridge?

I can't find any information about any display of faults other than the Check light for gas not firing. You mentioned in your first post that things worked after recycling, which would be what you would expect if you had a fault that needed resetting. If there was no fault it would seem that you would not have needed to do anything except to stop moving.

You almost have to do several different trips to test things, such as cycling the power after the engine has started. I don't see how you could troubleshoot a fault otherwise.

This month I’d planned on getting a GE that’s $500 more. Am replacing old RF18 due to long term defrost issues. Even though all else about it works perfectly, swore I’d never do another Samsung!! However, RF18s are < $1000 right now, which is tempting. Even with $150 extended five year warranty, I’d be $$ ahead with the Sammy. Plus it will fit exactly in space old one is coming out from. Tough decision but going back to RV absorption ice cream melter is NOT
