REPLACING THE DOGHOUSE COVER SEAL

Unfortunately the original seals are not available anymore, but there are substitutes out there that you can make one from, Bill Garamella NH Bill gave me some that he had left over from his dog house job, hopefully he will post here what he used and where he purchased it at. Here is some details about how I made mine in this picture;

Default Sealing and Insulating Doghouse on FC models

I have read the pdf article y'all suggested, and have forwarded it to my mechanic -- who says he does NOT know where to obtain the seals (or sealing material?) to replace the junk on my 1983 (which is surely shot, based on the heat and noise I'm enduring).

Have I missed the pointer to what the (presumably rubber) gasket/seals are to be located and purchased? If so, please re-submit.

Thanks for sticking with me on this nasty problem! LJ

I have a new Doghouse seal for a fc
Iam willing to send it to have it duplicated
I have no idea what the price will be or the turnaround time for manufacturing
I do know they will be fairly pricey and there will be a minimum order for me
if there is any interest please let me know at
stephen@dupreeproducts.com

Thank you and have a happy Canada Day

Default Cathouse Gasket

Here is what I decided to do for the front part of the Cathouse lid. I bought a rubber door seal gasket from NAPA, part #770-3173. It cost approx. $20. It has an adhesive backing, so after cleaning the metal lip with my air sander wheel, I sprayed some brake cleaner on a clean shop towel and wiped the lip down. I then used my heat gun to heat up the metal lip so the adhesive on the rubber gasket seal would adhere better. I then installed the rubber seal in short phases. Once it was in place, I sealed the ends with RTV black silicone and left everything to set up for the day while I did some other things in my Bird

Whenever I clean up the CAT I raise the front jacks and make sure the suspension is lowered in the rear, so that the engine valley will drain off the water/degreaser easier off of the rear of the engine.
