Default Generator fan

I have a 1986 pt40. Should the genny fan blow out. Or should it suck air though the radiator? Mine sucks air in.

Mine blows out, but it had a 12 volt fan when I bought it so don't know what the original did. I think it will work either way. .

I believe it should blow out, you would want to suck up debris off the ground through the radiator. My 95 blows, so did the 88FC.

How would you change the direction of it? If it blew out. The heat would go to the outside of the bus. Instead of be blow under the bus. But would it suck to much heat off the generator motor to keep it cooled in hot weather. Dry camping

As far as I know mine is still original and it blows out through the radiator. I've not had any problems with it overheating in hot weather.

You need to re-connect the motor wiring for opposite rotation (most can, but not all) and reverse the fan (the cupped side should face the flow direction)

My '86 also pulls air in from the side.

Pulling coldest air thru makes most sense. Pushing hot air out makes less. so fan must suck from below, yah?

Other side of coin is, sucking in dust will clog radiator fastest. Fan should blow out toward ground.

All told I'd want cooler ground air in,
