Default So you're picking up your first 'Bird........

The excitement of a purchase of your fist 'Bird can sometimes fog our best way of planning things and sometimes we don't expect any problems bringing it home, well here's a great story by one of the WOG members on just how much can go wrong when we don't exactly plan ahead for the worst scenario and not only the unknown problems the 'Bird may already have, myself included when I drove mine from Texas to South Carolina on rag tires in January, especially during this time of the year and throughout the winter months.................sorry Hoagie but this one is worth reading not only by the newcomers, but a refresher coarse by the old timers too, check out Wanderlodge Owners Group > Takin' it Easy > Under The Awning > My First Trip Story

It may help to read through this search on winterizing too

Hoagie's was about as bad as it can get. We did discover what a great storyteller he is though! All of us have memories whether good or bad from that first trip. Mine involved a wrong turn, ending up on a desolate runway, and almost getting tagged by a plane in the middle of the night! Probably the only plane that flew in there for months (not even a tower). Ultimately I broke down, had the coach towed, and went back two weeks later to get her. I also left Bakersfield significantly lighter in the wallet. Totally worth it IMO though.

Mike Putz and I are going to get my coach in Houston in two weeks. I'll be happy if this trip turns out to be "uneventful".......

But, boy was Hoagie a trooper through it all. That took real determination to see that trip til the end!
