Default Race rallys

About 20 years ago we joined the Featherlite chapter of FMCA.
It was free, and it was just after Featherlite bought out Vantari, the prevost converter.

The first rally was at Charlotte Motor Speedway,a week long rally where we would see the race of champions and races all week abd then the 600 on the last day.

We camped in the parking lot in a secure area (my first gated community) and Richard Petty came to the camp one night, and other things happened too, like catered food,a comedy club one night, etc.

The races were watched from a suite, thats a sky box way up high with many TV's and a private toilet and a guarded door to keep most misfits out (they let me in!).
The suite had heat and AC,a full bar with bartender and a buffet everyday.
With a waiter
They would make you a sandwich and bring it to you, while you were watching the race!
How cool is that!

This whole deal, race tickets and everything (and a tour of the pits on race morning) cost us $1800.
DEAL!!!
7 days,race tickets,food,clubs and one night a special surprise....

I was going to wait until someone begged to hear about the surprise but i have to get busy here!!!

Theres about 20 coachs at this rally, the guys were all race fns and good old boys that drove Prevost's mostly and then theres me,driving a 1984 PT40.
I joined because i was selling valves and stuff to Vantare, before Featherlight bought them out..

Anyway, one morning the guys are hanging out, eating breakfast under the big tent, the chef was making omelets for us all,and we were talking about that nights entertainment.

The sheet said we were going to the theater,i was cranking the guys up,telling them we were going to the Ballet!
The guys were saying "no way!",i kept saying ,oh yeah,we going to see a bunch of guys in tight pants jump around and who knows what!
Just kidding them, you know how guys are!

Sure enough, about 6pm or so,after happy hour we line the cars up and get ready to caravan to the theater.
Off we go,and we had private parking and as we walked to the theater we passed a sports bar.

We get into the theater and wouldnt you know it,we had front row seats, well, the middle seats on the first 3 rows, best seats in the house.
We still had no idea what the play would be about.

When the curatains opened it was a Ballet!
No kidding, heres a bunch of race fans, all with a few drinks in them at a Ballet!

All the guys just leaned forward in their seats and looked down the row at me!
How did you know? is what they were asking.
I just shrugged and laughed!!
So,all we needed was Larry the Cable Guy to be with us!!

The show starts, and we are only a few feet from the stage watching (or trying not to see some things!) the show!

After about an hour of dancing and prancing we get an intermission, the guys all looked at each other and headed for the ...............................................
BAR!!
We all went to the sports bar across the street, the girls were embarrassed and went back to the show,at the 2nd intermission the girls joined us at the bar!!

So,if anybody ever tells you i was at the Ballet, you can tell them its true!
But,I doubt i will ever be seen in one again!!!!

Reading about the Indyrace reminded me about that rally.
We have never been to another Featherlite rally.
If you ever see a NASCAR race from a suite, you will never go back to the grandstands.
Of course, have a waiter and a bartender helped!
And a private bathroom (CLEAN) and ,no smoking! was nice too.

I wonder if there would be a race, like say the Southern 500 in Darlington, that we could go to as a group next year? Get enough parking for 20 coaches, perhaps some pricing concessions?
