Yes very cool and I was also 14 at the time and lived just outside of Tacoma, WA. They were a local group to us.

Very cool story! My dad was in his late 30s when the electric guitar really started taking over the music scene in the late 50s/60s. I grew up listening to him play all of the Ventures songs on his left-handed blonde pre-RCA Fender Telecaster (major $$$ today). I bet I listened to him play 'Walk Don't Run' a 100 times. Many many years later in the mid 80s I got see the Ventures in a small club in Atlanta. What a thrill!

Ah yes - the Ventures. Back in the day I did several shows (provided sound systems and mixed live performances) for the Ventures. I was always blown away by Nokie Edwards, the lead guitar player. (he is the guy with the mustache and always wearing a hat). He was an absolute master technician on the guitar and responsible for that unique Ventures sound. Mosrite Guitars built several Ventures model guitars which the group used and promoted. I actually owned and played 2 of them for a long time. One a 6 string electric and the other a 12 string electric. The original sunburst Ventures 6 string I sold to a guy who had to have it. Sorry - no picture. The blue 12 string I sold on ebay 10-12 years ago - pictured below with a 1967 black face Fender Super Reverb. (pic below). Sure wish I still had all that STUFF today
