Not trying to steal this thread so my apologies but thought the theme of really cool people who have given much to our livelihood applied here as well.
It's long but completely worth the time in my humble opinion.

Yes very cool and I was also 14 at the time and lived just outside of Tacoma, WA. They were a local group to us.

Very cool story! My dad was in his late 30s when the electric guitar really started taking over the music scene in the late 50s/60s. I grew up listening to him play all of the Ventures songs on his left-handed blonde pre-RCA Fender Telecaster (major $$$ today). I bet I listened to him play 'Walk Don't Run' a 100 times. Many many years later in the mid 80s I got see the Ventures in a small club in Atlanta. What a thrill!

Ah yes - the Ventures. Back in the day I did several shows (provided sound systems and mixed live performances) for the Ventures. I was always blown away by Nokie Edwards, the lead guitar player. (he is the guy with the mustache and always wearing a hat). He was an absolute master technician on the guitar and responsible for that unique Ventures sound. Mosrite Guitars built several Ventures model guitars which the group used and promoted. I actually owned and played 2 of them for a long time. One a 6 string electric and the other a 12 string electric. The original sunburst Ventures 6 string I sold to a guy who had to have it. Sorry - no picture. The blue 12 string I sold on ebay 10-12 years ago - pictured below with a 1967 black face Fender Super Reverb. (pic below). Sure wish I still had all that STUFF today
