Default Breweries and Brewpubs and Beers

Purpose of the thread:

I wanted to create a living post where people can post the various breweries, brewpubs, or just really cool bars or beers they have tried while traveling across the country.

A little Background:

If you haven't met me yet, I'm a bit into beer. I'm a home brewer and I keep eight beers on tap at home. Every time we reach our destination, the first thing I do is look on Yelp to find out if there are any local breweries or brewpubs we can check out. If they have food it's a bonus because it can double as a lunch or dinner place. In addition, I also check out stores for local beers (most Walmarts have a selection of local beers BTW) and try to save one or two so I can share them with my friends back home.

Default Russian River Brewing Company

Russian River Brewing Company is located in downtown Santa Rosa, CA. It is home to the world famous Pliny the Elder which is consistently rated as a top 10 beer in the world as well as the best beer in America. It is one of the first Double IPA's commercially produced.

But, that's not why I was there. During two weeks in February, they release Pliny the Younger. It has very limited distribution and the majority of the beer is available only at the brewery. So here I was last Monday waiting in line at 10:30 with my brother (see the pic of the line). There was only 160 people in front of us. When we got in three hours later (longest I've ever waited for a beer), you have three hours and can only order three Pliny the Youngers. The wait was worth it. The food was good. The ability to drink the two Pliny's side by side was priceless.

On normal days they do have tasters but there is about twenty beers on tap, half our sour beers. They do fill growlers.

There is public parking downtown but I did not see a place to park an RV.

Default Breweries and Beer

Dan,

I am not a beer enthusiast, actually I can't stand the taste of beer. My husband and his brother have over the years enjoyed trying out different beer recipes in our kitchen. When we travel we also look up the local pubs and breweries. We dubbed our last long distance RV trip The Blue Skies Bar b Que and Brew tour. We traveled up through the center of the country searching out some of the best places to eat and drink. We stopped at Boulevard Brewing in Kansas City, Knuckle Brewing in Sturgis and visited the Naked Winery in Rapid City. There were so many stops along the way I can't list them all. Last year we flew out to Salt Lake City and went to Wasatch Brewing and The Moab Brewery. But the coolest brewery I have been to was Ouray Brewing in Ouray, CO on the Million Dollar Hwy. Would love to touch base sometime and compare notes.

Bellied up to the bar at "Islamarada Brewing " in Ft Pierce FL. Would have thought it to be in the keys but nooooo. Anyway great beers and friendly people in the tasting room on the premises. West of Hwy 1 on St. Lucie Blvd. Give it a try!
