Default 1976 fuel filter

I’m currently fixing up a 1976 bird and was wondering if anyone knew what kind of rear fuel filter it has. I’m having a really hard time finding one that will fit the housing.

Pictures of what you have would help.

Yes, pictures would help as I am not aware of a "rear filter" on my '77. Does it happen to be in your propane bay? I'm thinking perhaps a PO installed a Racor filter similar to later model FC's?

Typically the initial filter on our coaches is a Racor fuel filter/water separator unit. The top unscrews and a filter cartridge pulls out. Look online for Racor fuel filters and compare the images to confirm.

Note that filter cartridges come in a couple of sizes for different sized Racor units AND within a single size you will have several filter choices as to filtering size...you want a 10 to 20 micron filter. Good sources are NAPA and West Marine or buy online.

Fill fuel filter body with ATF/Dextron when servicing...it's cleaner than pumped diesel and will prevent introduction of air into lines.

So the filter is located at the right hand side rear of the BB behind the Diesel tank.
I've tried going into Napa and a few other autoparts places in my area with no avail.

if you still have the filter itself we could find a filter.
Just showing us the box/can it came in does not help.
This is kinda like taking a shoe box into a shoe store and asking for a pair of shoes.

Wow, That's a new one for me. Is there a pump back there too? Standard setup for the late 70's is no pump, no filter back there, only one filter in the engine compartment right rear on the passenger side. A few years later they added a pump back there but still no filter. From the pics it looks stock. Blue Bird needs to have the day of the week put on the placard next to the AR number as they did so many different things, seems by the day of the week.

PS, don't buy a "Friday" bus!

i think its a T60 ac delco which takes a T553 filter, cross that over to a wix and you may have your filter.

The Racor 900 evidently has no current patent as these cheap Chinese ones are popping up. This is about the price of 2 filter elements! https://www.ebay.com/itm/302929391280
