Default Generator Slide Out not moving on 1985 PT-40

Thanks Randy

I could not get my generator slide to move. Motor was running but no power to the ram. I found the generator post where you were telling how to get the transfer solonoid unstuck with a drill bit and hammer along with an oil injection. Now works fine. Just wanted to say Thanks for passing along the knowledge Randy.

Old fishhook you got my attention. I can not find the post randy made on how to fix the slide problem using a drill bit and a hammer. Will you post it please.

under the coach on the passenger side at the front, behind the step is a solenoid, its got some yellow paint on it i think.
on the front side of this solenoid theres a hole, maybe 1/8 inch or a little bigger.
spray some PB blaster or WD40 into the hole, then gently drive a small drill bit or punch into the hole to free up the spool inside, that will most likely fix it.
good luck
Randy

Thanks John. Now I understand why I could not figure out what Randy was describing. Both Sam and I have 1985 PT40 which has AIR solenoids and rams not hydraulic fluid. There is no hole in the 12VDC solenoid or the shuttle since it is sealed. In sams case I would recommend he take the solenoid off, carefully open the ends up being careful not to tear the two gaskets one on each end and clean the shuttle, replace the O ring and then lightly lube the shuttle and O rings with some silicone grease and it will work like new.

Tom,i was not aware that any PTs had an air slide on the gennies,I thought they were all Hydraulic.

Its weird that my 84PT40 used hydraulic and the 85 used air..
