Default 1983 3208t cat engine sensors/alarms

hi all !. i have a 1983 fc-sb with a 3208t cat engine. i became it's caretaker 4years ago, and still in the process of reconditioning it. my first trip was from houston tx. to port townsend wa., the dealer was to have the coach road ready, ya right!. the first stop was 6 new tires,then fuel. after about a mile down the road it earned it's nickname "bucky", as it had no front air suspention,fun trip! anyway i have just given the front end and engine a loving bath with a toothbrush and solvent just so i could see the engine,wires,airlines etc. following this loving i gave the engine a new blanket of cat yellow paint. the bus now has new air suspention,shocks,muffler,filters,oil,. the only issue is that my engine alarm illuminates about 30sec. after startup. my oil pressure is 75psi,water temp 180. my question is ? does anybody have a diagram on the engine sensor/engine alarm systems on a 3208t cat? i have contacted cat ,and they said that bluebird sets up their own systems. i have also contacted ccw suport, and they can't find any documentation on the engine alarms, someone must have run into these issues. thanks!!!!!!

Larry,

The Kysor Alarmstat manual may be available in the technical files. This might help.

Welcome to the forum.

One of the requirements it that you set up a signature with Name, Bird year and model and location.

Default 1983 3208t cat engine sensors/alarms

I have a 1984, with typically the same problem.

What I have to determine when I get home, I think that these units have an oil level sensing device. My alarm was coming in frequently, so I checked everything and found that my oil was low, so I added some and well the buzzer quit.

Does anyone else have this critter on their engine?

Here are some threads containing information about the KYSOR Alarms to read that may help;

Bill,

We don't have that manual in the Database, please email me a copy at iamflagman@aol.com and I'll add it to the Database.

Thanks,

You also have a radiator sensor for coolant level and I have a feeling the wire either came loose or your coolant is low. You have oil pressure and the coolant temperature is alright so its the coolant level.

tom , thanks, i havn't checked that wire other than it is physically connected to the radiator. by the way, the rad is also topped off. it's a funny bug! with the ignition in the run position the alarm light doesn't illuminate for about 30sec or so. after startup the light will come on.

Larry just remember that just because the wires are connected to the 3 sensors does not mean that their is continuity between the sensor and the Kysor unit. Also does not mean that you have not got a bad sensor.
