It's hard to believe that tomorrow marks one year since so many of us gathered at Casper, WY to watch the solar eclipse. If I didn't know any better I'd swear it happened only 20 minutes ago.

I was parked at the end of a long row so I went up on the roof of my coach and took a few panoramic photos looking back over the flock of birds. There are three taken before the eclipse and one that was taken during totality.

The files are too big for uploading to this site so I'll have to share a link. I've never used this photo sharing stuff before so I hope it works.

The photos are best viewed on a large (wide) screen.

I know you guys are interested in solar eclipses and wanted to let you know about what we're doing for the eclipse on Dec. 14, 2020.

This is going to be total in South America, passing through Chile and Argentina, see:
http://xjubier.free.fr/en/site_pages...30&Zoom=5&LC=1

We are going on a cruise to see this one, its by Holland America and goes around the southern tip of South America and to Antarctica.
https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US...N22C/W074.html

If interested you can book through your favorite travel agent, Holland America, or where we did, CruCon : https://www.crucon.com/ Ask for Joe, 800-493-6609 ext. 1675 joew@crucon.com
They had the best deal I could find... YMMV!

It would be fun to have friends on board! Hope to see you ;}
This ship holds 2000 people! Would be nice if we knew everyone! Invite your friends ;}

Thanks, Joe & Pat

CArols going with Joe and Pat.
If the ship would hire me to do sometime i would go,if they would let Molly come along.
I would be bored shirtless without something dirty to work on.

There is always the time honored tradition of drinking and eating on cruises...

Glad Carol is going! Should be a good trip ;}

I typed up a long thing last night and then accidentally closed my browser and was too frustrated to re-do it, so this may be slightly condensed. Anyway,

Back in the summer of '17 I was unexpectedly shipped out on one of the boats and was floating around the Canadian Maritimes. I had caught a presentation by the guy that runs the state observatory some time before, and he had talked about eclipses and how wonderful they were...so I got the idea from that. I booked the trip from some small coffee shop in some port I don't remember, and my then girlfriend had no idea about the whole thing...our departure just happened to align with her dad's birthday, so I had her pack a bag under the guise that we were going to visit them for the weekend.

I packed up a bunch of our hiking gear in my sea bag, and we headed down to her 'rents place...she made lobster and I butchered and grilled some delicious filet mignon...any way, she found out that night that we were flying to denver the next morning super early...she was shocked to say the least.

So I rented a high top cargo van from enterprise and we flew out, drove it to Walmart/Goodwill, and picked up an air mattress, a cooler, and food. We have a cargo van that we do this in at home, so this is not uncommon...anyway, we spent 7 days covering 1900 miles between CO, WY and SD...spent the first night high in the Rockies, then down into the desert, Cheyenne, then Wind Cave, SD, over to Devil's Tower...ultimately we found a nice spot out in the BLM land near the petroglyphs and caught the eclipse right in the path of totality.

I proposed shortly after totality passed but still during the eclipse, and we had to go air the tires down to get the van back out of the sand. Stopped and found an old mining town called Gebo and wandered around the ruins for a while trying to figure out the layout...I am a sucker for a historical mystery...then went and lounged in the mineral springs and river in Thermopolis while we waited for all the traffic to dissipate. Such a great trip living in a cargo van for a week.
