Default Extreme RV on the Travel Channel

I was watching Extreme RV on the Travel Channel last night. I think if I was going to buy a new (2012) RV I would take a look at the ShowHauler
RV's. The construction appears to have some quality in them.

I watched that marathon for like 3 hours last night. Those are actually made not too far from me. They did look like they were built decent. However; Did you catch that the aluminum skin is adhered with 3M double sided tape?

In the show after that one there was a Merc Sprinter van that was getting a custom interior at an interior shop. Did you see there was a wanderlodge in the background of some of the shots? Some sticks and staples too.....in a giant shop. The owner was talking about the sprinter and it was behind him.

I'm recording those shows too. Nice to see what goes into them.

That was interesting about the tape. Was it aluminum skin over steal studs and all the steal is welded?

The Show Hauler was quite a coach. I am with you, if I was going to look it would have to be considered. The show was addictive.

Yes it has a tube steel frame that is all welded and looks pretty good. As they were building it I wondered how they dealt with corrosion between the steel and aluminum and what fastened it. Then they brought up the 3M tape. Final product looks good. I just wonder what that tape will do in 20 years......

When I visited the Newell factory, I saw that they also attached the skin with tape. They said it was as strong as the base material.

Good friend had a show hauler, not that great. Suspect the tape durability thing is dependant on the skill and technique of installer. Seen a few panels flapping from tape construction. In my world Gold Rush Trailers in PA are the truth, don't know if they abide by tape or not.

Eagle Coaches used dissimilar metals with isolators too. From what I've heard, didn't hold up too well over the years.

I watched the three shows. Saw the Sprinter van -- interesting that there's so much more in my Roadtrek including full bathroom with shower. Still seats a total of 7 (in stock configuration). Still it was a very nice rig on the show.

Too bad I never noticed the 'bird in the background.
