OMG - Where do I begin...

Birds, Birds, and more Birds . If you have never been to a rally, possibly on the fence, or unsure if this lifestyle is for you… get to a rally asap! This does not apply to me, but If you’ve got a pulse, a rally will help you make up your mind. Other than getting a ton of “insider information” you will get a chance to associate yourself with some most welcoming folks. My wife and I took the opportunity to get around some of the resident brain trust and listened to the collective voices of experience.

For a Future Owner like me sitting Bird-less on the sidelines, I am mentally in the driver’s seat when I read the forum threads. Meeting present owners felt like the pages of WOG were coming alive. Right in front of me were people who are blazing the path I will follow. If this sounds too corny, “change the channel.” My comments are meant for those who understand the power of a dream.

A shout out to those I got to meet and speak with (in no particular order): Mallie & Karen Lennon, Kip & Cindy Henry, Shane and Kelly Fedeli, Bryan Altier, Lee Davis, Steven & Liliana Pappas, Randy & Sonya Shrimplin, Bill Pape, Mark Burtis, Bob Sumners & wife, Butch Charpentier, Carl Brorup, Steve & Patty Gureasko, David & Beth Barrineau, Harold & Cat McMullen, Carmine & Rexann Pacchino, Don Bradner, Matt & Jennifer White, BadAndy & Carroll (hope I got name Carroll right), Keirn & Carolyn Rush, Bruce Griffin, Stephen Mahan, Jim & Nancy Brookshire, Stick Miller, Karen Gulrich, Rick Shawver, Tony & Dana Hicks, Lance & Terri Wilson, Clint Summers, Sean Dixon, Dan & Susan O’Brien, Chip Lamb, Cool Dude owns a ’81 I think – who has the Jewish grandmother with her tchotchke collection (conversation at Shane’s BBQ hangout area), Dale with the salt & pepper hair and Bob who was with him, the 2001 LX owner with the motorcycle mount rack for sale (uh oh name slipped my mind), and a non-WOG poster and his wife Sue from Florida who has had multiple Birds and been around for 22 years. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and time and making our first rally a positive memory. There were many more folks to meet, but had to save some for a later date.

A special shout out to gracious owners that allowed my wife and I to tour their Birds: Steven & Liliana Pappas, Randy & Sonya Shrimplin, Kip & Cindy Henry, and Keirn & Carolyn Rush. Also a special shout out to Kelly Fedeli and Sonya Shrimplin for spending some quality time welcoming my wife Priscilla.

Aside from Bird talk, comradery, and good food, I learned two important things for future rallies – bring you own cup for coffee and donuts with Bill Pape, and bring your own beverage for the 5:00PM feed (thanks Dan & Susan O’Brien for the beverage).

Timothy

I am beyond impressed with your amazing name recall ability. That is one of my short comings...unfortunately. I do find it extremely humorous that you somehow found my former last name (Hicks) and assigned it to my husband. LMMFAO!
On FB it's Andolini, due to my current career...assumed name.

I, for one, Really enjoyed the Bird auction! That was most entertaining...even if I did wind up with some ugly brass light sconces. lol Chip, I would come watch you in action again. You were great and funny to boot, especially with that unfocused crowd. lol Well done!

He got my wife's name wrong if that makes you feel better! No big, I enjoyed chatting with Tim! I can't remember anyone's name pretty much all the time.

It was a great rally. The #1 thing I learned this year is that nobody is ever late for beans at 5pm. I was 10 minutes late with my side dish twice! People come over to chat and then I won't shut up and I then I'm late!

It was sad to watch everyone leave, but it was also great to watch the parade go by. Amazing machines and an amazing group of people.

Someone talked to me about air bags, and I can't remember who, but, whomever you are, please PM me as I now have all the info you need.

Other than one night's rain, with two awnings being destroyed, the weather was great, and the rally went off really well without an obvious hitch, thanks to our hosts, and all the volunteers. Of course, I just sat back, didn't do anything but complain, as that was my job

Steve, that may have been Craig Haedrich, as he had one which had a cut in it. Then a again it could have been somone else as we were talking with others.
Had a great time with Geoff working on the DDEC1 coach as he is a retired Detroit engine mechanic/technician from the Rybovich yatch company located in Riviera Beach, Fl.
Enjoyed talking with him and helping identify the coach owners 8v92 engine issue as he was able to print out all the stored codes for him with my computer reader and printer.

Thanks Geoff and hope to speak with you more often as we always appreciate a professionals knowledge and help.
